Brighten and Awaken Those Gorgeous Eyes with Blepharoplasty Surgery

An eyelidplasty, also known as a blepharoplasty, involves removal of the excess, redundant and sagging skin  of the upper and lower eyelids, together with any "bags "that may be present. Eyelid aging is often related to years of sun exposure and squinting but hereditary factors will also contribute. Changes include "generous ", overhanging skin of the eyelids, wrinkling, and protruding fat bags especially of the lower eyelids. A carefully performed blepharoplasty restores a more open appearance to the eyes, improves contours and smooths the eyelid skin without making the eyes look too open or tight.

The operative technique involves making incisions that run in the normal folds of the upper and lower eyelids through which all of the excess skin is removed, together with the bags. In most cases local anesthesia with light sedation is all that is necessary.  The procedure is done on a day surgery basis in my fully accredited surgical center, meaning that you can arrive and leave the same day, without the necessity of an overnight stay. Recovery typically includes bruising that generally lasts one week and swelling that can last ten to fourteen days. Sutures are removed on days two and five after the procedure. I have my patients sleep with their head up for five days following surgery. Wearing sunglasses may also be recommended to protect from sunlight and minimize squinting.

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that can take years off a person 's appearance with minimal operative time.
